Abu Dhabi Launches Ticketless Parking System With Automatic Darb Wallet Payments

Abu Dhabi has introduced a new **Free Flow Paid Parking** system for selected public multi-storey parking facilities, allowing motorists to enter and exit without taking a ticket, scanning a QR code, paying at machines, or sending an SMS.
The system uses automatic licence plate recognition to detect vehicles when they enter and leave the parking building. Once the vehicle exits, the parking fee is deducted directly from the user’s **Darb wallet**.
The service is operated by [Q Mobility](https://www.qmobility.ae/) under the supervision of Abu Dhabi’s [Integrated Transport Centre](https://admobility.gov.ae/), as part of the emirate’s wider shift towards smart mobility and digital parking services.
## How Abu Dhabi’s free-flow parking system works
The new system is designed to make paid parking faster and more convenient.
Cameras automatically identify the vehicle’s number plate at entry and exit. The system then calculates the parking duration and deducts the amount from the driver’s Darb wallet.
This removes the need for paper tickets, payment machines, QR-code scanning or manual transactions, helping drivers save time inside parking buildings.
## How much does free-flow parking cost?
The parking fee is **AED 2 per hour**, with a maximum charge of **AED 15 for 24 hours**.
The service operates **24 hours a day, seven days a week**, throughout the year.
Motorists should make sure their Darb wallet has enough balance before using the facility. If there is not enough balance, they may face non-payment violations.
## Where is the system available?
The service is currently active in selected public multi-storey parking buildings in Abu Dhabi.
According to the announcement, it covers public multi-storey parking buildings on Abu Dhabi Island, including:
- Public Parking Building No. 1 in Sector East 01-3, with 394 spaces - Public Parking Building No. 5 in Sector 02-3, with 265 spaces
It also covers commercial sectors in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, including **ME9, ME10 and ME12**, offering a total of **1,446 parking spaces**.
The facilities include designated spaces for People of Determination.
## What drivers should do before using it
Before entering a supported parking building, drivers should check whether their vehicle is registered on the Darb platform and whether their Darb wallet has enough balance.
Motorists can manage their account through the [Darb app](https://www.qmobility.ae/en/support/darb-app) or Q Mobility’s digital services.
It is also important to follow facility signage and entry or exit instructions at the supported parking locations.
## How this is different from regular Mawaqif parking
Traditional [Mawaqif](https://admobility.gov.ae/en/mawaqif-public-parking-types) parking usually requires drivers to pay through meters, SMS, mobile applications or other payment options, depending on the parking zone.
The new free-flow system is different because it automatically starts and ends the parking session using number plate recognition inside selected multi-storey parking facilities.
This means drivers do not need to manually start the session or handle payment during their visit.
