Dubai Fountain shows have reportedly been suspended again, leaving residents and tourists wondering when the iconic Downtown Dubai attraction will return.

However, there is currently conflicting information online: some sources report a temporary closure, while Emaar’s main Dubai Fountain page and Visit Dubai are still displaying normal show timings.
For anyone planning a visit specifically to see the fountain, checking the latest status directly with Emaar or Dubai Mall before travelling is recommended.
## **Are Dubai Fountain shows currently suspended?**
Recent travel-industry checks have reported that an Emaar-operated page carried a notice saying the Dubai Fountain was **temporarily closed for renovation**, with visitors advised to stay tuned for reopening updates.
At the same time, Emaar’s dedicated Dubai Fountain page currently continues to advertise afternoon performances and evening shows every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm. Visit Dubai also currently lists the attraction as operating.
Because of this inconsistency, a new reopening date should not be assumed until Emaar issues a clear updated announcement.
## **This is not the fountain’s first renovation closure**
The Dubai Fountain underwent a major refurbishment in 2025.
Emaar initially announced that the attraction would close for around five months for upgrades and routine maintenance. The works included improvements to technology, choreography, lighting and sound.
After completing the first phase, Emaar officially reopened the fountain on **October 1, 2025**.
## **A second phase of upgrades was planned for 2026**
When the fountain reopened, Emaar said a second phase of renovation was scheduled for completion in **Q2 2026**.
The company said this phase would introduce additional features and enhancements to the attraction’s water, lighting and entertainment experience.
That makes the current closure reports especially relevant, although Emaar’s presently available public pages do not clearly explain whether the reported suspension is connected to those Phase Two works.
## **What were the normal Dubai Fountain timings?**
Before the latest closure reports, Emaar listed afternoon shows at **1pm and 1:30pm from Saturday to Thursday**, with Friday performances at **2pm and 2:30pm**.
Evening performances were listed every 30 minutes from **6pm until 11pm daily**.
Watching from the waterfront promenade is normally free.
## **What about the Dubai Fountain Lake Ride and Boardwalk?**
The Dubai Fountain Boardwalk and Lake Ride are experiences built around getting closer to the fountain performances.
Because their operation may be affected whenever shows are suspended, visitors should verify availability before purchasing tickets or travelling specifically for either experience.
Emaar normally describes the Boardwalk as bringing visitors within nine metres of the fountain, while the Lake Ride takes guests across Burj Lake aboard a traditional abra.
## **Can you still visit Downtown Dubai?**
Yes. A fountain suspension does not mean Downtown Dubai itself is closed.
Visitors can still explore Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, Burj Park, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Dubai Ice Rink and nearby restaurants and cafés.
The Burj Lake promenade also remains one of Downtown Dubai’s most recognisable areas, although anyone booking a restaurant specifically for fountain views should confirm the show status first.
## **When will Dubai Fountain reopen?**
At the time of writing, there is **no clearly verified new reopening date associated with the latest reported suspension**.
This is important because outdated pages and listings may continue displaying the fountain’s standard performance schedule.
Visitors should check Emaar’s official Dubai Fountain page or contact Dubai Mall shortly before visiting.
## **Why this matters**
Dubai Fountain is one of the city’s signature free attractions and a major part of the Downtown Dubai experience.
