Dubai gold prices are on track to finish the week lower, giving jewellery shoppers some relief after another volatile period for the precious metal.

On Friday, September 25, gold opened lower in Dubai, extending the [decline seen over recent sessions](https://www.whatmatters.ae/post/dubai-gold-prices-drop-rate-hike-bets-rise) as a stronger US dollar, higher yields and expectations around further US interest-rate increases continued to weigh on bullion.

According to Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group data, 24K gold was listed at around **AED 514 per gram** on Friday morning, while 22K was around **AED 476 per gram**. Rates can change several times during the trading day.

## **How much has Dubai gold fallen this week?**

The decline becomes clearer when compared with the beginning of the week.

On September 21, Dubai’s 24K rate stood at **AED 523.75 per gram**, while 22K was **AED 485 per gram**. By September 25, the rates had fallen to approximately **AED 514.25 for 24K** and **AED 476.25 for 22K**.

That represents a drop of roughly **AED 9.50 per gram for 24K** and **AED 8.75 per gram for 22K** compared with September 21.

The decline is even more noticeable compared with September 18, when 24K stood at AED 527.75 and 22K at AED 488.75 per gram.

## **Today’s Dubai gold rates**

As of the latest Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group update on September 25:

**24K:** AED 514.25 per gram **22K:** AED 476.25 per gram **21K:** AED 456.75 per gram **18K:** AED 391.50 per gram **14K:** AED 305.25 per gram

These are reference gold rates and can move during the day as international bullion prices change. Jewellery buyers should also remember that making charges, VAT and other retailer costs can affect the final amount paid.

## **Gold is also significantly cheaper than a month ago**

The weekly decline is part of a broader pullback.

Khaleej Times reported on Friday that 24K gold had lost roughly **AED 40 per gram over the previous month**, after trading around AED 554 per gram a month earlier.

Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group historical data similarly shows 24K at AED 554.50 per gram on August 27, compared with around AED 514.25 on September 25.

For someone buying 10 grams of 24K gold, that difference in the underlying gold rate alone is roughly AED 400.

## **Why are gold prices falling?**

Several global factors are putting pressure on gold.

One major factor is the outlook for US interest rates. Expectations that the US Federal Reserve could maintain higher rates or raise them further have reduced some of gold’s appeal because the metal itself does not pay interest.

A stronger US dollar has also weighed on bullion. Because international gold is priced primarily in dollars, a stronger dollar can make the metal more expensive for buyers using other currencies.

Oil prices and inflation expectations are also being closely watched because they can influence future central-bank decisions.

## **What does this mean for Dubai jewellery shoppers?**

Lower per-gram rates are positive for shoppers who have been waiting for gold prices to cool.

The difference becomes particularly noticeable on larger purchases such as wedding jewellery, investment bars or multiple pieces.

However, a lower gold rate does not necessarily mean every piece of jewellery becomes cheaper by exactly the same amount.

Retail prices can also include making charges, design premiums, gemstones and VAT.

Shoppers should therefore compare the **gold rate and making charge separately** before deciding whether an offer represents good value.

## **Should you wait for gold to fall further?**

There is no certainty that the decline will continue.

Gold remains sensitive to US economic data, Federal Reserve expectations, the dollar, bond yields, inflation and geopolitical developments. These factors can push prices in either direction quickly.

For jewellery shoppers, buying gradually rather than attempting to identify the exact bottom can reduce the risk of making the entire purchase immediately before another price move.

For investment purchases, individual financial circumstances and risk tolerance should also be considered rather than relying only on short-term price movements.

## **Dubai gold prices can change throughout the day**

Gold shoppers should remember that Dubai rates are not fixed for the entire day.

The Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group publishes benchmark rates that can be updated as international markets move.

A rate seen in the morning may therefore be different by the afternoon or evening.

Checking the latest displayed rate immediately before purchasing is particularly important when buying larger quantities.

## **Why this matters**

Dubai gold prices are heading towards the end of the week at noticeably lower levels, with 24K and 22K both down compared with the start of the week.

For residents and tourists planning jewellery purchases, the decline provides a more favourable entry point than the higher rates seen earlier in September and late August.

But gold remains volatile. Buyers should keep an eye on the live Dubai rate, compare making charges between retailers and avoid assuming that today’s decline guarantees another drop tomorrow.
