Emirates Introduces U-Dream Headrest to Improve Economy Class Comfort

Emirates has introduced the **U-Dream Headrest**, a new multi-way adjustable headrest designed to give Economy Class passengers greater head and neck support during flights.
The Dubai-based airline says it is the first carrier to introduce the feature, which is intended to make sleeping more comfortable—particularly on long-haul journeys—and reduce the need for passengers to carry separate neck pillows.
## **How does the U-Dream Headrest work?**
The padded leather headrest forms part of the **Z400 Economy Class seat developed by Safran Seats**.
Its flexible side wings can be folded inwards to cradle a passenger’s head and neck. The headrest can also be moved vertically and tilted, allowing travellers to adjust it based on their height, body type and preferred resting position.
The design aims to prevent a passenger’s head from falling forward or leaning sideways while sleeping.

Cabin crew have also been trained to help passengers adjust the headrest when required. Its leather surface is designed for easy cleaning and will be wiped down after every flight.
## **Could it replace travel neck pillows?**
That is one of the main goals behind the design.
Emirates Airline President Sir Tim Clark said the headrest provides full neck support for passengers who want to sleep, adding that separate neck pillows may no longer be necessary.
However, passenger comfort will remain personal, and some travellers may still choose to carry their own pillow.
