Some [Emirates NBD customers faced problems](https://www.whatmatters.ae/post/emirates-nbd-launches-regions-first-real-time-blockchain) using the **ENBD X mobile banking app**, with money transfers, DirectRemit and utility bill payments among the services affected by a temporary disruption.

The problems were reported on **Thursday, October 1, 2026**, with customers able to log into the app in some cases but unable to complete certain transactions. Emirates NBD attributed the interruption to temporary maintenance activity and said services would be restored soon.

The timing caused particular frustration for customers because the disruption occurred at the beginning of the month, when many residents typically make rent transfers, pay bills and send remittances.

## **What happened to the ENBD X app?**

Customers opening ENBD X were informed that temporary maintenance activity could interrupt some services.

Although users could still log in, certain features inside the application failed to load or process requests.

According to reports, customers attempting affected transactions received an error asking them to try again later or contact customer care if the problem continued.

## **Which Emirates NBD services were affected?**

Two services specifically identified as temporarily unavailable were **DirectRemit transfers and utility bill payments**.

Customers also reported difficulties with fund transfers, transactions not going through and other mobile banking functions.

Under normal conditions, ENBD X supports local and international transfers, DirectRemit and payments for utilities and telecommunications services.

## **Why did the disruption happen?**

Emirates NBD said the interruption was connected to **temporary maintenance activity**.

The bank acknowledged that customers could experience interruptions to ENBD X services and indicated that normal service would return soon.

No more specific technical cause was disclosed in the reports.

## **Customers reported failed transactions**

The disruption was not limited to one type of transaction.

Outage reports included customers experiencing problems with the app itself, fund transfers and mobile banking. Some customers also took to social media to report delayed or unsuccessful transactions.

Importantly, this does not mean every Emirates NBD customer experienced the same problem. Reports indicated that services were working intermittently for some users while others continued experiencing difficulties.

## **Why the timing frustrated customers**

The interruption happened around the beginning of October, when many residents were trying to complete monthly payments.

Customers commenting online pointed out that the first days of a month can be particularly important for rent, credit-card payments, utility bills, remittances and other financial commitments.

For customers who regularly use DirectRemit to send money overseas, the temporary unavailability also removed one of their usual remittance options.

## **What should you do if your ENBD transaction failed?**

If a transaction shows as failed, avoid immediately repeating it multiple times without first checking whether money has been debited.

Check your account balance and transaction history before trying again. This can reduce the risk of accidentally submitting the same payment twice.

Emirates NBD notes that duplicate debits can occur when a customer retries a transaction after receiving an error even though the original transaction subsequently goes through.

If money has been deducted but the recipient or service provider has not received it, keep the transaction reference and check the status before making another payment.

## **What if your bill payment is urgent?**

Customers with an urgent utility or telecommunications payment may be able to pay directly through the service provider’s own website or application rather than waiting for the ENBD X bill-payment feature.

Emirates NBD normally also supports certain bill payments through Online Banking, ATMs and Cash Deposit Machines. For example, its official support information lists Mobile Banking, Online Banking, ATMs and CDMs as channels for eligible e& and du payments.

Availability of individual channels should still be checked before relying on them during a service disruption.

## **What if a transfer is stuck?**

Emirates NBD provides support options for local transfers, international transfers, DirectRemit and payments that have not been processed.

Customers can raise a transaction-related request through the bank’s digital support channels. Emirates NBD says customers can also obtain an e-advice or, where applicable, a SWIFT payment copy to help trace a transfer.

Customers should avoid sending the same amount again unless they have confirmed that the original transaction failed or was reversed.

## **How to contact Emirates NBD**

Customers who continue experiencing account-access or transaction problems can use Emirates NBD’s official support channels.

The bank lists ENBD X as a channel for raising and tracking service requests and also provides telephone support for urgent issues.

Emirates NBD Help & Support

Customers should use only official Emirates NBD channels and avoid links received through unsolicited SMS messages, emails or social media posts.

## **Is ENBD X back to normal?**

As of the latest reports on **October 2**, the disruption had been linked to maintenance and Emirates NBD said services would be restored soon. However, the reports did not provide a precise official restoration time.

Some users subsequently reported that services were working again or intermittently, but individual social-media reports should not be treated as confirmation that every ENBD X service has been fully restored for all customers.

Users who need to make an urgent transaction should check the app directly for the latest service notification.

## **Why this matters**

ENBD X is used for everyday banking activities including transfers, remittances and bill payments, so even a temporary disruption can affect residents trying to meet time-sensitive financial commitments.

The most important thing during an outage is to avoid repeatedly submitting the same payment without checking its status first.

If a transaction is pending, debited or unclear, keep the reference details and verify its status through Emirates NBD before attempting it again.
