UAE Petrol and Diesel Prices Rise for September 2026: New Rates Announced

By Thasmiya
UAE motorists will pay more at the pump in September, after the **UAE Fuel Price Committee officially announced higher petrol and diesel prices for September 2026**.
The new rates take effect from **Tuesday, September 1, 2026**, with all three petrol grades increasing by 20 fils per litre compared with August. Diesel has recorded a significantly larger increase of 50 fils per litre.
## **UAE fuel prices for September 2026**
From September 1, motorists will pay:
**Super 98:** AED 3.80 per litre August price: AED 3.60 per litre **Increase: 20 fils**
**Special 95:** AED 3.69 per litre August price: AED 3.49 per litre **Increase: 20 fils**
**E-Plus 91:** AED 3.61 per litre August price: AED 3.41 per litre **Increase: 20 fils**
**Diesel:** AED 4.30 per litre August price: AED 3.80 per litre **Increase: 50 fils**
The official announcement says petrol prices were adjusted by approximately **5.56% to 5.87%**, while diesel recorded the biggest month-on-month jump.
## **How much will a full tank cost in September?**
The increase means motorists will notice a difference every time they fill up.
For a **50-litre tank**:
Super 98 will cost approximately **AED 190**.
Special 95 will cost approximately **AED 184.50**.
E-Plus 91 will cost approximately **AED 180.50**.
For a **60-litre tank**:
Super 98 will cost approximately **AED 228**.
Special 95 will cost approximately **AED 221.40**.
E-Plus 91 will cost approximately **AED 216.60**.
For a **70-litre tank**:
Super 98 will cost approximately **AED 266**.
Special 95 will cost approximately **AED 258.30**.
E-Plus 91 will cost approximately **AED 252.70**.
For petrol-powered vehicles, a 20-fils-per-litre increase means a 60-litre fill will cost **AED 12 more** than it did in August.
## **Diesel sees the biggest increase**
Diesel users will see a considerably larger increase.
The September diesel rate is **AED 4.30 per litre**, compared with AED 3.80 in August. That is an increase of AED 0.50 per litre, or roughly **13.2%**.
A 60-litre diesel fill will therefore cost around **AED 258 in September**, compared with AED 228 in August — an increase of AED 30 per tank.
The change could be particularly relevant to commercial vehicles and businesses with significant transport and logistics costs.
## **September marks a second consecutive monthly increase**
The latest adjustment means UAE petrol prices have increased for the **second consecutive month**.
Fuel prices declined in July following several months of increases, before moving higher again in August and now September.
For comparison, August prices were:
Super 98 — AED 3.60 per litre.
Special 95 — AED 3.49 per litre.
E-Plus 91 — AED 3.41 per litre.
Diesel — AED 3.80 per litre.
## **Why do UAE petrol prices change every month?**
The UAE has operated a market-linked fuel pricing system since fuel-price deregulation was introduced in 2015.
Under the system, the Fuel Price Committee reviews retail petrol and diesel prices each month.
The September rates were approved under the country’s monthly pricing mechanism, which tracks movements in international energy markets while reflecting changes in the domestic market.
This means petrol prices in the UAE can increase or decrease from one month to the next depending on broader energy-market conditions.
## **How much more could regular commuters spend?**
For someone buying around **200 litres of petrol per month**, the 20-fils increase translates into approximately **AED 40 in additional monthly fuel spending**.
A motorist using 300 litres would spend around **AED 60 more** than at August’s prices.
The impact will naturally depend on the vehicle, fuel grade, driving distance and fuel efficiency.
For people commuting long distances between emirates — particularly Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Abu Dhabi — even relatively small per-litre changes can become noticeable over a full month.
## **How to reduce your UAE fuel bill**
Drivers can reduce fuel consumption by maintaining correct tyre pressure, avoiding unnecessary acceleration and braking, removing unnecessary weight from the vehicle and keeping up with regular servicing.
Fuel loyalty programmes can also return some value from regular spending.
Motorists using ADNOC stations can join ADNOC Rewards, while ENOC and EPPCO customers can use YES Rewards. Emarat customers can collect rewards through EmCan.
Depending on the programme and payment method, motorists may earn points, discounts or other benefits from fuel purchases they would already be making.
## **When will the next UAE petrol prices be announced?**
The Fuel Price Committee typically announces new rates around the end of each month.
Unless there is a change to the system, motorists can therefore expect **October 2026 fuel prices around the end of September**.
The September prices remain applicable from **September 1 until September 30, 2026**.
## **Why this matters**
September’s increase will affect millions of UAE motorists, but diesel users face the biggest change.
Petrol has risen by 20 fils per litre across Super 98, Special 95 and E-Plus 91, while diesel has jumped by 50 fils to AED 4.30.
For an occasional driver, the difference may be relatively small. For daily commuters, delivery fleets and businesses operating multiple vehicles, however, repeated refuelling means the higher rates can quickly add up.
The key figures to remember for September are **AED 3.80 for Super 98, AED 3.69 for Special 95, AED 3.61 for E-Plus 91 and AED 4.30 for diesel**.
