UAE Weather: Cooler Conditions Ahead as Fog Risk Increases

By Thasmiya

The UAE is beginning to feel the gradual shift towards cooler weather, with temperatures expected to ease slightly and the chance of early-morning fog increasing across parts of the country.

According to the latest forecast from the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), Saturday, October 3, will remain warm, with daytime temperatures still approaching 40°C in several areas. However, increasingly humid nights and mornings are expected to create favourable conditions for mist and fog over coastal and inland areas in the coming days.

For UAE residents waiting for more comfortable outdoor weather, this is another sign that the intense summer season is gradually giving way to autumn.

## **Temperatures to drop slightly across the UAE**

Temperatures are expected to ease slightly on Saturday, although conditions will remain hot during the daytime.

Abu Dhabi is forecast to reach around **40°C**, while Dubai and Sharjah could see highs of approximately **39°C**. Al Sila could reach **41°C**, while Fujairah is expected to be noticeably cooler at around **35°C**.

Conditions will generally be fair, becoming partly cloudy to cloudy at times across eastern and southern parts of the UAE.

## **Fog and mist risk increases from Sunday**

The bigger weather change could come during the early mornings.

Humidity is forecast to increase overnight and into Sunday morning across some coastal areas, creating a possibility of mist.

By Sunday night and Monday morning, conditions become more favourable for **fog or mist across some coastal and inland areas**. Similar conditions could return on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

This means motorists should be prepared for potentially reduced visibility during early commutes.

## **What will the weather be like on Sunday?**

Sunday is expected to remain fair to partly cloudy.

Light to moderate winds are forecast, generally reaching speeds of up to **30km/h**.

The Arabian Gulf is expected to remain slight, while the Oman Sea could range from slight to moderate.

As humidity rises overnight, fog or mist may develop across selected coastal and inland locations by Monday morning.

## **Similar conditions expected on Monday and Tuesday**

The gradual autumn pattern is expected to continue into the beginning of the week.

Monday will be generally fair to partly cloudy, followed by another humid night.

Fog or mist could then develop over some coastal and inland areas on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday is also expected to remain fair to partly cloudy, with more clouds possible across eastern and northern areas. Humidity is forecast to rise again overnight, creating another possibility of fog or mist on Wednesday morning.

## **Is cooler UAE weather finally arriving?**

Yes, but the transition will be gradual.

October is considered a transition period between the UAE’s intense summer and its more comfortable winter season. Temperatures typically become noticeably milder during the second half of the month.

The change does not mean every day will immediately feel cool. Daytime temperatures can still approach or exceed 40°C during early October.

Instead, residents are likely to notice the seasonal shift first through cooler mornings, longer nights and changing humidity levels.

## **Why does fog increase as temperatures fall?**

Fog becomes more likely when humid air near the surface cools enough for water vapour to condense into tiny droplets.

The UAE’s coastal geography means moisture from the Arabian Gulf can move inland during the evening. As the ground cools overnight, conditions can become suitable for radiation fog, particularly during calm and humid mornings.

Fog season in the UAE generally becomes more noticeable during autumn and winter, with early-morning fog events becoming increasingly common from October onwards.

## **October could also bring more rain**

The NCM’s October climate outlook indicates that rainfall could be **slightly above the country’s historical October average** this year.

The UAE’s average October rainfall is around **5.2mm**, while the mean temperature for the month is approximately **29.7°C**. However, the NCM expects temperatures this October to remain above their normal average.

Rain chances typically increase as October progresses, particularly around eastern and mountainous areas where convective clouds can develop.

## **Drivers should be prepared for foggy mornings**

Motorists should pay particular attention to NCM fog alerts over the coming weeks.

When visibility falls, drivers should reduce speed, maintain additional distance from the vehicle ahead and avoid sudden lane changes.

Drivers should also follow temporary speed-limit reductions displayed on electronic road signs where applicable.

Fog can develop quickly during the early morning, so checking the weather before leaving home can help commuters avoid unexpected delays.

## **When will the UAE really start feeling cooler?**

The more noticeable change is expected as October progresses.

Astronomical autumn officially began in the UAE on September 23, but the country’s climate does not immediately change with the calendar.

Traditional seasonal observations suggest that the period from around **October 5 to 15** can bring shifting winds that accelerate the transition towards milder weather. Around mid-October, the UAE also enters the traditional **Al Wasm**period, associated with cooler conditions and increasing chances of rainfall.

By November, conditions are generally expected to become significantly more comfortable for outdoor activities.

## **Why this matters**

The latest forecast offers an early sign of the weather UAE residents have been waiting for.

While afternoons remain hot, slightly lower temperatures, increasingly humid nights and a greater chance of morning fog indicate that the country is moving further into its autumn transition, with the [November 2026 UAE weather outlook](https://www.whatmatters.ae/post/uae-weather-november-2026-country-see-heavier-rain) looking at the next stage of this seasonal change.

For residents, the coming weeks should gradually bring better conditions for outdoor dining, beach trips, evening walks, desert outings and other activities that become difficult during peak summer.

For motorists, however, the return of frequent fog means early-morning journeys may require additional caution.
