When Will the UAE Weather Actually Cool Down? Here’s What to Expect

The UAE is still in the early stages of its long summer season, so while some days may feel slightly less intense than others, residents shouldn’t expect a lasting cooldown just yet. Weather experts say the hottest weeks are still part of the country’s normal summer pattern, with meaningful relief arriving gradually from late September and cooler nights becoming more noticeable by mid-October.
## **Why is it still so hot?**
According to astronomy expert Ibrahim Al Jarwan, the UAE’s summer is divided into two phases:
- **Now until around August 10:** Dry, extremely hot weather dominates, with daytime temperatures commonly reaching **41°C to 43°C**, while some inland areas may exceed **50°C** during heatwaves. - **From August 11 onwards:** Temperatures remain high, but humidity increases, especially along the coast. This often makes conditions feel even more uncomfortable despite similar temperatures.
## **When will temperatures start dropping?**
Here’s what residents can expect over the coming months:
- **Late September (around September 23):** The first signs of autumn arrive. Daytime temperatures begin to dip below **40°C**, while overnight temperatures generally fall below **25°C**. - **Mid-October:** The UAE starts experiencing genuinely cooler nights, with minimum temperatures dropping below **20°C** in many areas. - **Mid-November to Mid-March:** This is typically the country’s most comfortable season, with daytime highs often staying below **30°C**.
## **What about rain?**
As humidity builds during August and September, the UAE may see:
- Afternoon convective clouds over the Hajar Mountains - Localised thunderstorms in eastern regions - More frequent morning fog and dew from mid-September into autumn
The country’s main rainy season usually begins in **early November** and continues through **March**.
## **What to expect this week**
Current forecasts show temperatures continuing to hover around **40–43°C** across much of the UAE, with no major cooldown expected over the next several days. Residents should continue taking precautions against heat stress, stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.
## **Why this matters**
If you’re counting down to cooler weather, patience is still needed. While brief dips in temperature are possible, the UAE’s real seasonal transition typically begins in late September, with the most noticeable relief arriving from mid-October onwards. Until then, hot afternoons, warm nights and periods of high humidity will remain a defining feature of the summer season.
